Jesse Eisenberg has Polish roots!

Poland is where my family lived and prospered until the Germans started the war – Jesse Eisenberg said during an interview with Polish “Vogue.”

Jesse was born on October 5, 1983 in Queens, New York. He is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, in the film The Social Network, for which he was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Lead Actor category.

Jesse Eisenberg is of Jewish descent, and his family originated in Poland and Ukraine. His ancestors – a great-grandmother on his mother’s side, Hyman Mendelsohn, was born in the town of Krasnystaw, and a great-grandfather on his father’s side, Sam Eisenberg, came from Poland. His aunt, Maria Greber, lives in Szczecin. He recently admitted that he has applied for Polish citizenship. He wants Polish-Jewish relations to improve.

“A Real Pain” by Jesse Eisenberg

Eisenberg directed the film under the title ‘A Real Pain’. The plot is based on two cousins discovering their Polish roots. After the death of their grandmother, they travel to Poland to learn about their family history. During this trip, they visit sites related to the Holocaust, including a former concentration camp, which becomes an opportunity to reflect on their heritage and family relationships. The lead role was played by Eisenberg himself, along with Kieran Culkin. The film was met with critical acclaim. It was screened at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2024 before being released in cinemas in the US on 1 November 2024 and in Poland on 8 November 2024.
